A day on Venus is longer than a year on Venus

Venus takes 243 Earth days to complete one rotation on its axis — but only 225 Earth days to complete one orbit around the Sun. This means a Venusian day is longer than a Venusian year. Venus also rotates in the opposite direction to Earth, so the Sun rises in the west and sets in the east. The surface temperature is 465°C — hotter than Mercury despite being farther from the Sun — because a thick CO₂ atmosphere creates a runaway greenhouse effect. Venus is the most dramatic example of climate change in our solar system.
