Van Gogh sold only one painting in his entire lifetime

Despite producing over 900 paintings in just a decade, Vincent van Gogh sold only a single work before he died — 'The Red Vineyard' — for the equivalent of about £120 today. His brother Theo was his only financial supporter throughout his life. Today, his paintings routinely fetch over $100 million at auction.
