A Day on Venus Is Longer Than a Year on Venus

Venus rotates so slowly on its axis that a single Venusian day (243 Earth days) is longer than a Venusian year (225 Earth days). Venus also rotates in reverse compared to most planets — so on Venus, the Sun rises in the west and sets in the east. Its thick carbon dioxide atmosphere traps heat so effectively that surface temperatures reach 465°C, hotter than Mercury.
