Humans Share 60% of Their DNA with Bananas
About 60% of the genes in a banana have a functional equivalent in the human genome. This reflects the deep evolutionary history shared by all life on Earth — the fundamental cellular machinery (energy production, DNA replication, protein synthesis) was established billions of years ago and has changed little since. It's a reminder that at the molecular level, life is surprisingly unified.
