Cleopatra lived closer in time to the Moon landing than to the pyramids

Cleopatra VII died in 30 BC — approximately 2,500 years after the Great Pyramid of Giza was completed (c. 2560 BC) and only about 2,000 years before the Apollo 11 Moon landing in 1969. This counterintuitive fact reveals how ancient the pyramids truly are relative to even 'ancient' history. The Old Kingdom that built the pyramids was separated from Cleopatra's Ptolemaic Egypt by roughly the same span of time that separates her from us. The Sphinx had already been ancient for two millennia when Caesar set foot in Egypt.
